(2 hours ago)President Voldymyr Zelensky has declared Ukraine is planning a trilateral meeting between representatives of Ukraine, the United States and Russia, with the aim of ending the war by autumn.
In a telephone conversation with US President Donald Trump's special representatives, Jared Kouchner and Steve Witkoff, Zelensky said that, after consultations with the American side, he has received proposals that US representatives will discuss further with Russian officials.
After these discussions, the trilateral meeting, for which Ukraine is working intensively to realise within the autumn, writes RAT.
For his part, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said new “to unblock the negotiations process, as previous proposals were unacceptable to Ukraine. He stressed that the United States is ready to propose new concepts and seek a compromise to satisfy both sides.
Rubio also spoke about his conversation with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov during the ASEAN summit, noting that both sides have interests for ending the war.
Meanwhile, after meeting with Rubio, Lavrov said that the further “weapons surrenders” for Ukraine are “unacceptable” and criticised the European countries' “modificational policies”.
In other developments, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev confirmed that an informal meeting on Ukraine will take place on 12-14 July, with the participation of former German and Russian officials.
Meanwhile, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz explained that the current German government is not involved in these conversations and has no information about them.
