(an hour ago)The Ministry of Environment, Space Planning and Infrastructure (MMPHI) has indicated that the protection of water resources remains one of its strategic priorities, warning the continuation of shares for the release of unabated water properties and facilities built without permission.
In a response published on Facebook, the ministry announced that it has already started handling the demands of institutions and public enterprises for the release of confiscated or other water properties contrary to the law.
“For the Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning, the protection of water resources represents a strategic national priority, so the preservation of water properties is located at the heart of our institutional commitment. Therefore, we have started to address the immediate demands by public institutions and enterprises for the release of all illegally usurped or illegal water properties”, it says in response.
The ministry has stressed that this commitment is being implemented throughout Kosovo's entire territory, citing the latest action in the Water Lake area.
The latest “Action in the Ujman Lake area, where with the assistance of the MMPH and the Kosovo Police Inspectorate, 16 facilities built without permission were destroyed under the administration of the N.P. Iber-Lepenciu, it's just one of the steps of this plan. All parties involved in this action were announced in advance in full compliance with legal procedures”, it is further said.
According to the ministry, cases of illegal usurpation and construction in areas around Batlava Lake and Badovci Lake are currently under consideration.
“Under the same strategic priority, other institutional requirements related to unlicensed usurpations and construction especially around Batala Lake and Badovci Lake, two key sources of drinking water supply for our citizens. The MMPH inspector is continuing to identify fully the violations in these areas and, once this process is completed, immediate legal measures will be taken to restore these functioning public interest spaces”, noted in response.
The ministry has announced that the Inspectorate is continuing monitoring even in protected areas and national parks, re-focusing commitment to law enforcement.
“The Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning remains steadfast in its mission: through law enforcement and inter-institutional co-operation, we will protect any water and natural resources of the Republic of Kosovo from any form of usurpation or illegal construction”, the response concludes.
