A shell strikes an oil tank near the Strait of Hormuz

On Monday, a tanker was reportedly hit by an unknown shell while it was sailing near the Strait of Hormuz.
The reported attack occurred hours before US President Donald Trump left for the NATO summit in Ankara in Turkey.
However, no environmental damage was reported for victims, the United Kingdom Marine Trade Organisation (UKMTO) said.
According to UMKTO, the ship was hit as it was traveling south and called on ships to cross carefully into the area, while authorities are conducting investigations.
The incident occurred near one of the world's most important energy transport routes, despite a ceasefire that is in effect between the United States and Iran.
Citing two unidentified American officials, Axios reported in the late hours of July 6th that Iran “has fired at least two missiles to commercial ships” and that another ship was also hit.
This claim could not be verified independently and the Pentagon did not respond immediately for comment.
Since merchant ships have resumed on Hormuz, safety risks remain high in this area, but even in the waters near Yemen, where seamen have repeatedly faced attacks in recent days.
