Storm warning, AME appears with urgent appeal to citizens

The Agency for Emergency Management (AME) has called on citizens to increase care and readiness, following the warning of the Kosovo Hydrotechnology Institute (IHMK) for powerful convective developments expected during today.
According to AME's announcement, local storms accompanied by thunder, intense rainfall, hail and strong winds are expected to cause damage and difficulties in some areas of the country.

The agency has warned that the bad weather could bring rapid local floods, damage to objects, vehicles, infrastructure and agricultural culture, as well as problems in the electromagnetic network and telecommunications systems.
High risk of lightning strikes, with potential consequences for humans and animals”, is highlighted in the announcement.
The AME has urged citizens to stay in safe places during storms to avoid housing under tall trees, near metal objects, and electric poles, as well as to take extra care of communication.
“Stay in safe environments during the storm and avoid unnecessary movements”, the Agency appeals.
Citizens are also recommended to provide items on balconys and courtyards that may be damaged by wind or hail.
According to AME, the Fire and Rescue Units, together with Emergency Operations Centres, are on full alert throughout Kosovo's territory.
In any case of emergency, citizens can freely contact the Emergency Operations Centre in 112, the Kosovo Police in 192, firemen in 193 and Fast Assistance in 194.
