Oil prices reached $100 per barrel for the first time since May, while the growing conflict in the Middle East sparked fears of global energy supplies.
Gross Brent points of global reference to oil prices rose by more than 6% on Thursday after days of increase, while the US escalated military attacks against Iran, writes BBCPeriscope broadcast.
Prices rose after Huthow in Yemen attacked oil tankers in the Red Sea, threatening a key export route Saudi Arabia has used to bypass the Strait of Hormuz.
Gas prices have also been rising steadily over the past month, with the U.K. gas reference price currently at around $150 per barrel, from around 98p in late June.
