Prizrenas sentenced to 14 months in prison for cigarette-related fire in Ulcinj

A Kosovo citizen from Prizren has been sentenced to a year and two months in prison by the Constitutional Court in Ulcinj, after being convicted of causing a fire involving a businessman object in Ulcinj last year.
According to the court report, H.L. (41) has been found guilty of the criminal offence of “heavy public security”, as on June 26th of last year it has thrown a cigarette tail, triggering fire that later included the entire business object, Vijesti writes.
The Constitutional Court in Ulcinj has declared the case with which the defendant H.L. (41), by Prizren, has been convicted and sentenced to one year and two months in prison. With the same bias, he is also obliged to compensate for the damage caused by damaged parties”, the court's announcement said.
According to the indictment, the fire has caused major material damage in the area where the event occurred.
During the sentencing, the court has taken into consideration as extenuating circumstances the fact that the accused is married, the father of two minor children and without criminal precedent. Meanwhile, as serious circumstances have been estimated the high degree of material damage caused, which according to the court, exceeds the minimum level needed for the existence of this criminal work.
The sides have a right to a court case within eight days of accepting a written decision.
