Kosovo prisoner deceives guards, escapes from hospital in Italy

A 23-year-old prisoner has managed to escape from the Bolzano hospital in Italy on the night between Wednesday and Thursday, as reported earlier.
According to new information, the escape was allegedly carried out after a deliberate deceitful maneuver.
Kosovo-born man reportedly had declared to the prison guards in the evening hours that he had swallowed up the laundry detector in order to be sent to emergency. Just hours later, he managed to leave the hospital. A wide search operation has already been launched on him, reports “suedtyrolnews”, broadcast Clankosova.tv.
Due to concerns about his state of health, prison police officials transported the young man to the Bolzano hospital. After medical examinations, the 23-year-old was monitored in the emergency department.
About 3: 00 a.m., he seems to have taken advantage of an appropriate moment to leave the hospital. According to the first findings, he went through the main entrance, went out, walked through the space ahead of the object and disappeared. Security cameras reportedly recorded his escape. Investigators are currently analyzing images to determine its further movements.
Soon after the escape was completed, a broad search operation was launched, reports the newspaper “Alto Adage”. In addition to police patrols, railway police and carabinieri were announced to monitor possible roads to leave Bolzano. So far there are no indicators of any clashes with the guards who guarded it.
The fugitive was arrested only on May 1st by the Carabiniers in Cavalese. He is being investigated for serious criminal acts. According to the charges, he allegedly kidnapped his wife, who wanted to end the relationship, and had demanded money from her parents in exchange for her release. During the arrest in Trentino, investigators also found a small axe in his vehicle.
The Bolzano prison directorate announced that he is considering the circumstances of escape and the possible responsibilities of personnel charged with his oversight. The incident, on the part of the unions, was used as an opportunity to bring back attention to the difficult conditions of the prison police.
For Bolzano prison, this is the fourth escape in one year. In March alone, a 24-year-old prisoner had not returned after an authorised exit for work. While in August last year, two other prisoners managed to escape from the correctional institution. One was captured that same day in Merano, while the second was arrested several weeks later in France.
