Powerful earthquakes strike Japan, no danger reported to tsunami

A powerful earthquake has hit Japan's northern coast on Thursday, without causing tsunami or reported damage.
According to Japan's Meteorological Agency, the earthquake's epicentre has been on the east coast of Iwate, at a depth of about 50 kilometers. The shocks have also been felt in Tokyo, but there have been no reports of injury or material damage.
Japanese authorities have confirmed that nuclear power plants and facilities in the country, including Fukushima Daiichi and an facility in Aori, have not reported any anomalies after the earthquake.
Japan is located in the so - called “Fire Ring” of the Pacific and is one of the most vulnerable areas to earthquakes in the world.
Meanwhile, the day before, Venezuela was hit by two powerful earthquakes that caused dozens of victims and hundreds of injuries. So far, authorities have reported at least 32 people dead and about 700 injured.
