“Must be security provider”, Petritsch with message for Kosovo

Former Austrian senior diplomat Wolfgang Petritsch has estimated that the possibility of withdrawing part of NATO troops from Kosovo is also linked to the pressure the alliance is facing from Washington.
According to him, the US has publicly announced that it aims to reduce its military presence in Europe, which may affect Kosovo as well.
“NATO is under great pressure from Washington. Washington has already announced publicly that the US will withdraw its troops from Europe. And that, obviously, affects Kosovo” as well, Petritsch has stated in rtk.
He has stressed that Kosovo must advance in resolving open issues and prepare to take on more responsibility for its security through gradual strengthening of its defence capacities.
You must take responsibility for your own safety. You will need to become a security provider for Kosovo and the region. You must become a stabilizer”, he added.
Petritsch has also criticised Kosovo's current role in relation to regional stability, saying the country must become a more constructive partner in Europe.
“We need Kosovo to become a constructive partner in Europe”, the former Austrian diplomat has finished.
