Merz: Serbia Must Choose Between Europe, Russia, China

European leaders today, at the end of the EU-Western Balkans summit in Tivat, confirmed their commitment to EU enlargement and informed Serbia that its progress towards membership depends on implementing reforms and harmonising with European foreign policy, which means Belgrade must choose between Europe, Russia and China.
At today's summit, which passed without adopting a joint statement, EU leaders and its member states confirmed their commitment to the EU enlargement process, the Slovenian news agency STA reports.
They highlighted Montenegro once again as a key candidate who aspires to become the union's 28th member by 2028, and called on Serbia to reform and approach its foreign and security policy with that of the European Union.
Merz told reporters in Tivat that Serbia must clearly decide where it sees its future.
It is not possible to pursue a policy of fluctuation between Russia, China and Europe”, it was clear.
