Left children locked in cars in heat, mother fined 300 euros from police in Prizren

Kosovo police have reported that a woman was fined 300 euros after leaving her children locked up in a car parked in a shopping mall in Prizren, writes Periscopi.
According to the announcement, the case occurred on June 27, 2026, around 17:50, when police have admitted information that there were some children locked in the vehicle exhausted from high temperatures.
The police immediately arrived at the scene, and with the help of the metal rod, they opened the vehicle. Children were tired and dehydrated by the heat. In the meantime, their mother also appeared on the scene. Due to the child's neglect, police have imposed a 300-euro fine on them, according to the counterrimnition of the minor'", the police report said.
Police have appealed for increased care during high-frequency days, stressing that in no case should children be left confined to vehicles, as the consequences may be fatal.
The appeal also applies to increased care for the elderly and people with health problems during the heat wave.
