(2 days ago)The Kosovo Federation of Golf will not participate in the 2026 European Seniors Championship, which begins today in Paphos Cyprus.
This is due to a decision by the Cyprus state authorities, backed by this country's Ministry of Education, Sports and Youth, which says Kosovo cannot be presented with state symbols.
The FGK has expressed deep regret over this decision, and has announced that under these conditions they will not participate in the championship.
On May 27, 2026, just days before the championship, we were informed that because of a decision by the Cyprus state authorities, supported by the Ministry of Education, Sports and Youth of the Republic of Cyprus, it would not be allowed to present the Republic of Kosovo with its state symbols equally with other participating states. In all, the state flag of the Republic of Kosovo could not appear at the site of the race in the same way as the flags of the 28 other participating states”, the FGK said.
The Federation said that based on this decision, Kosovo's team refuses to participate in international competition “under uneven conditions and without the right to represent the state with its official identity and symbols”. / Periscope/.
