(6 hours ago)Tensions have erupted on the 13th day of the Zrvencin protest in Tirana, where, according to media reports in Albania, clashes have been recorded between protesters and Socialist Party supporters.
Police have also intervened at the scene to calm the situation and avoid further escalation of tensions.
The Zrvenec protests have started as opposition to the project for the construction of a tourist resort in the protected Zvrneci area and the Narretta district.
Protesters and environmental activists argue that the project jeopardises the ecosystem of the area, biodiversity and public access to the coast, demanding its cancellation and protection of one of the most important natural areas in Albania.
