Ghanaese footballer banned from entering Canada, losing World Cup match

Ghanaian footballer Thomas Partey has been barred from entering Canada.
The 32-year-old has been denied visas by the Canadian government, which means he cannot play Ghana's first World Cup match, against Panama, which takes place on June 18th.
The ban concerns the fact that Partey has five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault in July 2025 by the Metropolitan Police.
Also added were two new rape charges, even though former Arsenal footballer denied them.
Even FIFA has confirmed that the state of Canada has banned Thomas Party's entry and will not play Panama.
“FIFA can confirm that player Thomas Partey will not be able to travel from Ghana's main camp in Boston to Canada for their first match against Panama on Wednesday, June 17th. His visa request was rejected by the Canadian government.”, reportedly.
