What is known about future talks in Doha between the United States and Iran?

Iran is downplaying the purpose of its visit to Doha this week, insisting that no negotiations will be held with American counterparts in Qatar's capital.
However, regardless of how the Islamic Republic chooses to formulate its participation, diplomacy is expected to take place in Doha this week after a tense exchange of attacks over the weekend.
US special envoy Steve Whitoff is on his way to Doha, two American officials for CNN said, broadcasting Telegrafi.
An Iranian delegation will also be in town this week, Iranian negotiating team spokesman Esmail Baghaei said yesterday.
Confusion was created after Iran declared there would be no negotiations with the US in Doha, even though it confirmed it is sending an expert delegation this week to negotiate the release of its frozen assets under a previous agreement with Washington.
A diplomatic source told CNN yesterday that teams from both sides are expected in Doha this week.
The fact that US representatives are traveling to Qatar has nothing to do with the visit of the Iranian delegation, which is under way to follow (the agreement)", Baghaei told reporters Monday.
Regardless of how Iran describes the visit, the simultaneous presence of expert delegations from Tehran and Washington to Doha after weekend tensions is important and cannot be overlooked.
Iranian negotiators' efforts to distance themselves from any conversation may also be a tactic to ease internal pressure from hardline factions, which have repeatedly accused them of making too many concessions and that they have seemed too familiar to the US.
Coranising the visit as focused on providing the release of funds - instead of negotiations - could be another way to ease that pressure. /Perixopi/
