New details about the police's death in Vermica: He was hit by a car as he crossed the road during patrols

Kosovo police have provided new details concerning the tragic accident in which a police official lost his life near the border crossing in Vllica, Prizren municipality.
According to the official announcement, the event occurred early in the morning hours of June 29, 2026, about 2:30. The victim is a police official with initials R.G., 59, who was engaged in duty at the border checkpoint in Vermica.
“At the moment of the accident, the police official was patrolling on foot near the border checkpoint and, at one point, had tried to cross the street. At that moment, a vehicle moving in the direction of Prizren @Vermica has hit the front, as, according to police, the director had not adjusted speed to the terms of the” road, the report said.
As a result of the strike, the policeman has lost his life at the scene.
At the scene of the accident, the caretaker prosecutor, the Regional Road Traffic Unit in Prizren, and the emergency team, which has ruled out the victim's death.
By order of the prosecutor, the lifeless body has been sent to the Institute of Legal Medicine for Obligation.
Meanwhile, the driver of the vehicle, D.D., citizens of the Republic of Albania, has been detained for 48 hours, while the case has been prosecuted at the Constitutional Prosecutor's Office in Prizren for further investigations.
