Costa from Tirana: EU enlargement is no longer only opportunity, but geopolitical imperative

European Commission President Antonio Costa, at a joint conference with Prime Minister Edi Rama, said that the expansion of the Europian Union offers opportunities to countries like Albania, but in these uncertain times, expanding the union, according to him is geopolitical necessity.
He said the summit at the summit will be held in Tivat, Montenegro, in a few days' time is an attempt to advance the jobs done so far.
“The EU is Albania and Europe's most trusted partner. It supports Albania's performance, to be a prosperous country. You are integrating into the EU market. So it's much more than being part of the unique market. Enlargement offers these opportunities to our neighbouring fellow Albania. But in these times full of stability, enlargement is a geo-traditional necessity for Europe. Soon we will be at the Western Balkans summit in Tivat. To move further on to this job that has been done for the EU. Dear Eddie, you have a tradition of showing me Albanian literature. I read Lee Ypit's books, I'm going to read it in summer and Kadare's books. These help me understand Albania more. We have a common history, but we will form our own common history.”, he said. /Periscope/
