Former Chief of O The SEU in Kosovo sharply criticises Special: Its foundations are highly suspicious

Former O Mission Chief The SEU in Kosovo, Daan Everts, has sharply criticised the Special Court.
He has suggested that this court is a disgrace to justice.
At the conference “memory bridges” organised by “Liberty has a name” and KIPRED, the former Dutch diplomat has said the foundation of this tribunal is highly suspicious.
This tribulal is a disgrace to justice. Its foundation is highly suspicious, its mandate very selective, the manner of questionable action and tight accusations. If these processes end with penalties, the consequences will be serious, not only for relations between Serbia and Kosovo, but also for the perception of international actors and for the practice of international criminal law. ”, he said.
He has estimated that this court is preventing even normalisation of reports between Kosovo and Serbia.
Unfortunately, 25 years later, we are no closer to a normalised relationship between Serbia and Kosovo. Among the many factors preventing this is the so-called Kosovo Specialised Chamber, which is judging four prominent former KLA leaders who later became important political figures in post-war Kosovo for war crimes and crimes against humanity.”, he has indicated.
