Benitez surprised at Real Madrid's offer to Julián Álvarez

Former Real Madrid coach Liverpool and several other major European clubs, Rafael Benítez, have commented on the interest of “Los Blancos” for the silversmith of Atletico Madrid, Julián Álvarez.
According to reports, Real Madrid had made an offer about 150m euros for the transfer of the attackers, but it has been rejected by Atletico Madrid, who reportedly has no intention of negotiating for a sum under the 500m-euro release clause.
Benítez said he was surprised by Real Madrid's movement, stressing that he had not expected such an offer at this stage.
“is a surprise to me, especially in view of the other names mentioned in the market,” he said.
He added that Julián Álvarez is a high-level footballer, but his price, according to him, is determined by the market and not by individual clubs.
“A player who scores goals and has continuation in performance can cost a lot today. 100m or 150m euros are figures showing the reality of modern football,” said Benítez.
The former Real Madrid coach also compared the current market to the past, remembering much cheaper transfers, but then considered a record record.
He ended up stressing that if Álvarez continues the current form, he could fully justify his high appreciation in the transfer market.
