Over 600 prisoners exercise the right to vote

The voting process for national elections has been held in all corrective institutions in co-operation with the Central Election Commission, in line with legal procedures and standards designed for the realisation of the right to vote on persons deprived of freedom.
So said the SKK spokesman Florent Gashi, who added that according to data from this institution's Operational Centre, a total of 1,509 prisoners have had voting rights, while 653 prisoners have voted from that number.
He said the SKK, in co-ordination with the CEC, has undertaken all organisational, operational and security measures to enable the development of the election process to be orderly, transparent and secure within the correctional institutions.
The voting process has developed without incident and without obstacles, guaranteeing respect for the legal rights of prisoners who enjoy the right to vote”, Gashi said.
