Only three weeks before elections, CEC tender for voting booths fails

Just three weeks before holding the extraordinary June 7th elections, the Central Election Commission has failed to close one of the basic supplies for the election process ) purchase of the voting booths. The tender has been officially cancelled on May 14th, as the only agreed bid has resulted in the budget envisioned by the CEC, Periscopi reports.
Don't supply booths, it could cause serious trouble in the logistics organisation of the election process, as the time for re-entering and completing new procurement procedures is already very limited. According to official documents published by the CEC, the tender, titled “, has been cancelled because the only submitted bid has exceeded the budget of contracting authority. According to official documents, the projected value of this tender has been 15,000 euros. However, the only economic operator to have participated in the procedure has offered 21 thousand and 948 euros, significantly exceeding the planned budget by the CEC.

Announcing the annulment of procurement activity, the procedure is said to have been cut under the Public Procure Law provisions, as the agreed offer was higher than the CEC's planned funding for this supply, reports Periscope.
The tender was opened for supply of voting booths, which are among the main elements of the election infrastructure, as they are used at any polling station to ensure voter secrecy. The exact number of booths planned to be purchased was not specified in published documents.

The situation becomes more problematic because of the very short deadline until election day. Since the decision on abort is taken on May 14th and elections will be held on June 7th, the CEC has less than four weeks to start and complete a new procurement procedure.
The annulment of this supply comes at a significant moment for election organisation, as technical and logistical preparations must already be completed. /Periscope/
