Taiwan's president answers Trump: We won't be sacrificed and we won't be subject to negotiation.

Taiwan's president, Lai Ching, said Taiwan would not sacrifice “and would not become the subject of negotiations, stressing that the country would not give up its democratic and free way of life under pressure.
In a Facebook post, Lai said US arms sales for Taiwan are part of a legally defined commitment by Washington to the island's security.
It was the first direct reaction by Taiwanese President after the summit held last week in Beijing between US President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping.
Trump's statements after the meeting have caused concern in Taiwan, as he said he is still considering the adoption of new arms sales for the island and added that the US does not want Taiwan to declare independence by relying on American support.
Lai said Taiwan's citizens are concerned about the content of the TrumpøX talks regarding the future of the island, but thanked the US for supporting peace and stability in the region.
He stressed that Taiwan will not provoke conflict, but will neither give up sovereignty, national dignity and democratic system.
“Taiwan will not be sacrificed and will not be subject to negotiations under any”, the Taiwanese president said.
China continues to consider Taiwan part of its territory and has not ruled out the use of force to bring the island under Beijing's control. Meanwhile, Taiwan considers itself a sovereign and democratic state.
