Albania's Ministry of Justice made the next move, making an extradition request to the US in 2019. In the same period, an Albanian named Sokol Hoxha was detained in Britain, but after verifications from Interpol, he was released after only a week, as it turned out to be another person, but with data similar to the fugitive.
In 2021 the US investigations intensified and focused on Albanian nationals who had migrated to the United States in the 2000s. Investing sent investigators to the real Sokol Hoxha, matching fingerprints and photographs of the time. It was fully confirmed that the stature with a false passport with new identity is Sokol Hoxha, sentenced to 25 years in prison in Albania and a life sentence of capital in Belgium.
It is learned that on May 5th in Ohio, the long-inhibited one has been arrested for nearly three decades, and American authorities are assessing further steps for the handover and evacuation of this fugitive to Albania or Belgium. Sokol Hoxha today is 51 years old.
A successful closure of a nearly 30-year investigation into this convict, who will now have to face the law. He will probably continue to try to exploit legal annexes because the crimes were committed long ago.
