Do you know what the ten most powerful passports in the world are?

Europe follows to dominate the global ranking of the most powerful passports in the world. According to the fifth annual edition of the Global passport Index (Global Passport GPI), nine of the 10 strongest passports are European, while Singapore is the only non-European state to rank in the first ten.
Unlike other indicators based solely on the number of countries to travel without visas, the GPI also estimates factors such as investment opportunities, quality of life, health system, security, climate, social infrastructure, innovation and economic competitiveness.
According to Global Citizen Solutions, European countries' dominance is linked to the ability to combine freedom of movement with high living standards.
At the top of the ranking for 2026 stands Sweden, followed by Switzerland and Finland. Germany ranks fourth, while the Netherlands and Denmark share fifth place. The 10th is complete by Ireland, the United Kingdom, Norway and Singapore.
According to the report, the United Kingdom continues to remain among the strongest passports in the world, but Brex's influence is reflected in lowering the ranking in terms of freedom of movement. Experts stress that, although British citizens still enjoy visa-free travel to many countries, they have lost the automatic right to live and work in European Union countries.
The report also states the decline of the United States, which from the first country in 2021 has dropped to 12th in the 2026 rankings, largely as a result of changes in bilateral agreements on visa-free travel.
