Israel and Lebanon continue ceasefire and peace talks

The second day of talks organised by the United States between Israeli and Lebanese representatives to end the war is under way, according to the US State Department.
This is the third meeting of the parties since Israel intensified air strikes on Lebanon, after Hezbollah fired Israeli missiles on March 2nd, three days after the start of the war with Iran.
A ceasefire between the parties who have been constantly tested with attacks since agreed on April 16th will expire on Sunday.
A senior Lebanese official told Reuters yesterday that Lebanon will demand Israel stop attacks on face-to-face talks.
Meanwhile, an Israeli government spokesman said the talks were under way, aimed at disarming Hezbollah and reaching a peace agreement.
A State Department official also told Reuters that yesterday's talks were <x0-productive and positive”.
Hezbollah strongly opposes Lebanon's participation.
