(a month ago)The deputy head of the Democratic Party of Kosovo, Uran Ismaili, invited to “Grida Doma Podcast<18x1>, has spoken of Hashim Thaci and Kadri Veselini, saying the PDK does not view its past as burden or competition, but as the source of inspiration for the political path forward.
Speaking of KLA leaders being held at The Hague, Ismaili said Thaci and Wessel were among the main figures of the Kosovo Liberation Army and post-war statehood.
For us it's inspiration, for us it's empowerment, it's pain. Of course, I am part of Mr. Wessel's defence team and I have fallen very often to The Hague. It's a great pain for us to see it like that, because for us the history of Kosovo is trapped. Not only are they individuals, are the history of Kosovo”, Ismaili said.
He stressed that the PDK has not made political divisions when it comes to former KLA soldiers facing the process in The Hague, including Rexhep Selimi and Jakup Krasniqi.
We feel the same for Rexhep Selimi, the same way we do for Jakup Krasniqi. We were the only party that didn't make any kind of division. Was Rexhep Selimi of Vetevendosje or not, for us he is a soldier of the Kosovo Liberation Army. They must all be protected”, Ismaili said.
