A 5.9 magnitude earthquake strikes Japan

A 5.9 magnitude earthquake struck southern Japan on Wednesday, according to the US Geological Service.
The quake occurred at 11:46 a.m. local time at a depth of 50 miles [50 km], reports AA, Periscope
According to the Japanese prime minister's office's Disaster Management Division, the quake was felt in parts of southern Japan, with seismic intensity of less than 5 registered in South Amam in the province of Kagosima.
There were no immediate reports of damage or injury. Authorities issued no tsunami warning. /Periscope
