Kosovo Business Alliance Chairman Agim Sahini has criticised the Kosovo government's actions in dealing with the economic crisis, stressing that the measures taken by the latter have burdened businesses and citizens' lives without offering concrete solutions to the consumer so far.
Sahin stated that the state has many mechanisms available, but according to him, the government has repeatedly chosen to intervene by limiting business gains, while doing nothing concrete to protect the consumer.
The state has many mechanisms it can take. So far the government of the country has always taken steps at the expense of businesses by limiting profits, and doing nothing for consumers as a state. Now concrete steps must be taken to deal with the crisis. The ceiling prices bill, which is under discussion, is full of shortcomings; it should not be the guide of Kosovo's economic development, but should be controlling in extraordinary cases when it is the state of”.
Therefore, the Government has not taken any steps to lower the VAT, no step to remove the excise in the derivative, rather electricity has been expensive, and all of this has made life more difficult, more expensive for Kosovo citizen and consumer”, Sahin said.
The head of the Kosovo Alliance of Business in an interview for EO stressed that the Government has no clear strategy for local production, and according to him, local producers are in very serious condition.
He underlined that the GDP has consistently supported the economy and local producer, demanding developmental policies, but the reality according to him is that local producers are in very serious, unsupported, and often underrated even by consumers themselves.
The country's “government has no strategy for local production. The Kosovar Alliance of Business has always supported the economy and the local producer, has always encouraged the state to promote development policies for them, but we rightly say local producers are in a very serious, unsupported state, defamed by everyone and the consumer in most cases. Where do the local production is so expensive they rightly seek and say?
“Therefore subsidies and support for local production, even in Kosovo is forgotten, and this is not happening. We really appreciate that the current Government is trusting that an agreement will be reached with the President, if not then we will lose it this year for development, integration and support not only of domestic production but also of the international factor where I said that some 40 criteria must be met by the end of the year to reach other parts of EU funding for growth, said Sahin.
On April 10th, with 63 votes to and 19 against, Kosovo's Assembly has in principle adopted the draft Act on the Interim Measures of Foundation Products in Special Cases of Market Destabilisation, known as the Law on the Taban Awards. /EO
