Ali Abdullahi, commander of Iran's Central Staff Khatam al-Anbyya, the highest operational command co-ordinating the country's armed forces, has said that if the US continues the blockade and creates “security for Iran's commercial ships and oil tanks”, this would pre-x2> constitute a preamble of ceasefire violation<3>.
Abdullah adds that the Iranian Armed Forces, as a result, will not allow <x0 export or import to continue in the Persian Gulf, the Oman Sea and the Red Sea”.
He did not specify which countries can be affected by these exports and imports, although water spaces he mentioned cover a vast area.
The US naval blockade of Iranian ports began Monday. On Wednesday, the US Army said that no ship passed the blockade” in the first 24 hours, with six commercial ships forced back to Oman Bay, writes BBC.
The first round of negotiations between Iran and the US failed, though Donald Trump says talks could resume within the next two days. Iran has yet to confirm.
