In the official letter, the EU stresses that these developments raise questions about the independence and impartiality of the justice system, as well as respect for the principles of the rule of law, reports “The Justice Vow”.
According to the EU, the Government's decision to appoint new members to this commission should not halt the mandate of current members prematurely, establishing dilemmas for constitutionality and legality of this action.
In this context, The EU has called on the Assembly to exercise proper supervision and avoid adopting processes that could violate these principles, demanding that any appointment be transparent, based on merit and in line with European standards.
The EU office in Kosovo has reaffirmed readiness for dialogue and support in the function of strengthening the rule of law and democratic institutions in the country.
