Putin calls Trump: I'm open for a diplomatic solution with Ukraine

Russian President Vladimir Putin has held a telephone conversation with US President Donald Trump, where the war in Ukraine and the possibility of a diplomatic resolution of the conflict was at the centre of discussions.
The news was disclosed by Kremlin foreign policy adviser Yuri Usshakov, who said the two leaders talked about developments in Ukraine, on the eve of the NATO summit to be held 7-8 July in Turkey. According to the Kremlin, Putin has reconfirmed Russia's readiness for a diplomatic solution, stressing that it should take into account Moscow's principled positions.
Usakov named the call as <x0professional and very constructive”, while announcing that the conversation lasted an hour and 25 minutes. During it, Putin has also reminded Trump of the permanent invitation to visit Russia.
At the same time, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Ukraine remains open for talks, but according to him, is Moscow what must take the first step towards peace. In a reaction to social networks, Zelensky said he had a very good “conversation with Trump, with which he discussed the situation at the front and diplomatic developments.
“There is a real perspective to end this war and the determination of the United States will be crucial”, Zelensky wrote, adding that they have agreed to continue the discussion personally during the NATO summit in Ankara.
