Trump's efforts to expel illegal immigrants continue within 5 days ICE arrests about 10,000 people

The Department of Migration and Customs (ICE) arrested 10,000 people for five days at the end of June, marking a major push by the agency in charge of implementing the Trump Administration's massive deportation agenda.

Figures show that, while the administration is no longer taking tough measures on individual cities, arrests continue and are growing, reports Abc7. comPeriscope broadcast.

The total number of arrests during the five-day period that began Friday, June 26th, and ended on Tuesday, June 30th, translates into approximately 2,000 arrests a day.

"Since the first day, DHS rule forces have fulfilled President Trump's promise to the American people to arrest and deportation illegal criminals immigrants, including murderers, rapists, pedophiles, gang members and terrorists", the National Security Department said in a statement. Our"message is clear: if you come to our country illegally, we will find you, arrest you and deport you. "

News of the arrest also comes as the number of people entering ICE detention centres increased in June to approximately 39,000, as it had remained about 30,000 a month since February, according to information received by The Associated Press.

ICE does not publish records of arrests, making it difficult to compare correctly with previous periods. But according to data provided for the UC Berkeley Deportation Data Project and analysed by The Associated Press, 2,000 arrests a day would mark a significant increase compared to previous periods.

December had the largest number of ICE arrests since the beginning of the Trump Administration, and that month averaged only 1,283 arrests a day across the country.

In January, at a time when the administration filled the streets of Minneapolis and surrounding regions with hundreds of immigration law enforcement officers, the arrests averaged about 1,212 a day throughout the country.

But Minneapolis proved to be a turning point on the agenda of mass deportations of the Trump administration after two American citizens were killed by immigration officers while protesting the crackdown on Minneapolis.

Border chief Tom Homen began to lower the number of officers in Minnesota as the agency withdrew from visible growth operations that had been common during former National Security Secretary Kristi Noem's mandate.

Operations under Noem, led by former Chief of Border Patrol Gregory Bovino, were marked by frequent clashes between immigration law enforcement officers and protesters, in terms often distributed in the department's social media channels.

In February, immigration arrests fell to 1,057 per day, according to information from the Deport Data Project. The project filed suit through the Information Freedom Act to get ICE's arrest records.
