Conventioner Eliot Engel died on April 10 of this year at age 79.
He will be remembered as a hardworking advocate of Albanian rights in Kosovo and activist for more than three decades in Congress in support of Kosovo's independence.
Vehbi and Gena Bajrami, who have long had close friendships with Congresswoman Engel and his family, expressed comfort to his wife Patricia, daughter Julia, and the sons Jonathan and Philip.
Former President Bill Clinton and his wife, Hillary Clinton, former senator, former Secretary of State, and former American presidential candidate, also participated in the arrangements.
We talked with President Clinton about the contribution of Congresswoman Engel to Kosovo. Former President Clinton stressed that Engel has supported it not only for Kosovo but also for other issues in Congress whenever he has sought his help”, Bajrami indicates.
“I took the opportunity to thank former President Clinton this time again for helping Kosovo free and independence, and he said it has been a special honor for me that I was able to assist Kosovo”, Bajrami said.
The Engel family thanked Vehbi and Gena Bajrami for their condolences by recalling during the friendship and respect conversation they and Eliot Engel had for each other and the close co-operation they had for decades in supporting Kosovo's independence.
