Dutch Eurodeput hopes for positive signals from five non-recognising Kosovo

Dutch Eurodeput Thijs Reuten on Saturday, in an exclusive interview for Info Magazine in Kosovo, has called for the five EU states that still do not recognise Kosovo to change their stance, stressing that Kosovo's recognition does not relate to their domestic issues. He expressed confidence in statements [...]
He voiced confidence in the Commission's statements to Enlargement Marta Kos that there could be movement in this direction.
“I strongly hope that Enlargement Commissioner Marta Kos has evidence that things are moving around the five European Union countries that still do not recognise Kosovo's independence. Otherwise, she wouldn't say that at all”, he said.
Reuten stressed that Kosovo's application for EU candidate status could also be prosecuted without recognition by all member states, and that Kosovo should move towards European integration.
He also hopes that one of five non-recognitional countries can soon recognise Kosovo, which can affect others as well.
On the issue of five non-recognitional countries, I really hope that one of them will soon make the decision for recognition and that maybe convinces them the other four. I feel like there's some kind of cover-up game, after all, where one says "yes we have to think about it."
So if a country moves towards recognition, I hope that this happens this year, we can see other countries that realize that holding the block position cannot be maintained and should not be kept any longer and longer”, the Eurodeput Reuten at Info Magazine in Klan Kosova.
In the end, he criticised the political stalemate in Kosovo, calling it an obstacle to development and loss of opportunity, and called on political parties to co-operate for the good of the country's citizens and European future.
Political “Negreci is now sending Kosovo towards lost opportunities, lost funds and this is not in the interest of any Kosovo citizen, no matter which party they have voted on. So I call on all political forces to unite, to overcome differences from the past”.
Because this is not the moment for further procrastination, and I really hope that the needs of the people of Kosovo will prevail and lead to a solution”, the Dutch Eurodeput stressed.
