The initial testing of the investigation showed that the author used an image in his account in Whatsapp referring to Elliot Roger, who carried out an attack in the United States in 2014”, according to a statement issued by the General Directorate of Turkish Police.
Elliot Roger committed a massacre in Isla Vista, California, in 2014. The young man killed six people at a university campus in Santa Barbara before he killed himself.
He explained in a video that recorded prior to the massacre that he would carry out the attack as a “punishment” for women who refused. The author of yesterday's massacre has also died, while it is not yet known whether it was suicide.
“The computer equipment seized during checks on the crime author's home and his father's vehicle is currently being analysed and, according to initial information collected, no links to terrorism have been confirmed, this appears to be an isolated” incident, according to Turkish police.
