The video dates from March 16th, but CNN cannot verify exactly when it was recorded. At the beginning of March, the embassy ordered all its non-subsistant staff to leave because of security concerns.

The publication of the images came hours after the Al-Rasheed Hotel, located inside the Green Zone area where the embassy is located, was hit after a fearful attack Tuesday night.

The American Embassy has been targeted in numerous attacks in recent days. It was hit by two fears Saturday, and air defence was activated to bring down the missiles coming on Monday.

Several pro-Iranian militia groups operating within Iraq have claimed responsibility for various attacks on American targets there since the start of the Iran war.

During the weekend, another group of militants also published a video of an attack with fears near the Victory base in Baghdad, which was the headquarters of American forces during the war in Iraq. /Telegraph
