The American Oda appeals to new institutions: Put liquid American gas ahead

The American Economic Oda in Kosovo called on the carriers of the new institutional mandate that Kosovo's involvement in the regional American liquid natural gas infrastructure (LNG) take priority and seriously consider it part of the country's future energy policy.
According to the announcement, Kosovo is reportedly at a crucial moment for the future of its energy sector. The decisions that will be made over the next months and years will determine not only the way electricity is produced but also the level of energy security, economic competitiveness and the country's ability to meet the needs of a developing economy. For this reason, the discussion on energy policy orientation should not be limited to comparing the initial costs of investments or in options presented so far.
“for Kosovo, which continues to rely on older generation capacities and on considerable electricity imports, the time needed for building and operating new production capacities is a factor of strategic importance. Each year the delay in creating new local capacities implies continued exposure to the instability of regional markets, high import costs and supply uncertainty”, the report said.
The American Economic Oda in Kosovo believes the new institutions have the opportunity to build an energy policy based on professional analysis and the country's long-term interest. For this reason, the American Oda urges them to approach the US regional infrastructure to address the priority and assess this opportunity as a strategic investment in energy security, economic competitiveness and the future of Kosovo.
