During a press conference at White House, Trump said the US military campaign has hit more than 70,000 targets on the territory of the Islamic Republic since the beginning of the war.
The Iranian subx0> has been destroyed. Their air forces practically no longer exist, even the navy has been hit hard and many ships have sunk”, he said.
Major reduction of missile attacks and fears
According to the American president, US military operations have led to a significant decrease in Iran's military capacities.
He claimed a reduction of about 90% of ballistic missile concessions and a 95% reduction in Iran's intimidation attacks has been achieved. Trump also added that during the last week and a half, more than 100 Iranian warships have been destroyed or sunk, while more than 30 ships for naval mine deployment have been neutralised.
However, the American president did not present concrete evidence for these figures.
Allies Call for Hormuz Strait
Trump criticised several US allies who, according to him, have not shown enough willingness to send warships to escort the oil tankers to Strait of Hormuz.
He said some countries have promised to join the operation, but did not mention names, adding that some of them may fear revenge from Tehra.
Options for France's Attendance
The American president said that France could also contribute to the security of ship transfer to Hormuz Strait.
He said he talked to French President Emmanuel Macron and praised his readiness “with eight out of ten”, broadcast Panorama.
Trump stressed, however, that the US does not necessarily need Allied assistance.
We are the most powerful country in the world and have the strongest army. We don't need anybody”, he said.
Attacks on Kharg Island
Trump also said American forces have hit Kharg Island hard, destroying almost every object on the island, in addition to the main oil infrastructure.
According to him, the US decided not to hit oil installations at the moment, but left open the possibility of them being targets in the future.
Peace for New Iranian Leader
The American president also said it is not clear whether Iran's new Supreme Leader, Moitaba Khamenei, is alive or not.
He said there are different reports of his condition, including claims that he may have been seriously injured or even lost his life.
“No one says it's 100% good and no one has seen it publicly. We don't know if he's alive or not”, Trump said.
Trump: Israel Will Not Use Nuclear Weapons
Commenting on the developments in the war, Trump said he does not believe Israel will use nuclear weapons in the conflict with Iran.
The “Israel wouldn't do that. He would never do it”, the American president declared, adding that military co-operation between the United States and Israel is very close and their forces are well co-ordinated.
