The council, the UN's most powerful body, is scheduled to meet at 10:00am local time in New York.
Diplomats said the council is also expected to vote on a draft resolution submitted by Bahrain on behalf of members of the Gulf Co-operation Council.
Gulf states continue to face missile attacks and fear of Iran.
The draft resolution calls for an immediate halt to Iranian attacks on Gulf states and other neighbouring countries, as well as to end the use of mediated groups.
Iranian-backed groups include Hezbollah in Lebanon and the Huthites in Yemen.
Hezbollah resumed missile attacks on Israel about a week ago in response to the murder of Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei of Israel, which triggered major Israeli attacks on Lebanon. /Periscope
