This is the first time that details are published on what has been access to the servers, including claims that it's a foreign hacker. The FBI described the incident in a statement as “insulated”. “The FBI restricted access to the malicious actor and repaired the network. The investigation continues, so at this moment we have no further comments”, the statement said.
Although the source says the attack was the act of a cyber criminal rather than a foreign government, the incident highlights the potential value of Epstein's intelligence files. The publication of U.S. Department of Justice documents revealed the links of the late sponsor with prominent individuals from politics, finance, science and business, which has prompted investigations in many countries.
