The trial chamber at The Hague, which will make the decision for former KLA leaders, has already started confidential meetings on the issue. But, according to the tribunal's monitors, the decision is not expected to be known before June, due to the large number of evidence.

The trial process against former Kosovo Liberation Army leaders at The Hague has been completed on February 18th of this year, to await the final court ruling.

As they have confirmed about television from Kosovo's Specialised Chambers, the court has already begun assemblies to compile the act, but that these meetings are confidential.

“Yes, after the closure of the court case, assembly has begun. In line with the arrangement, each judge during confidential assembly presents his views and conclusions regarding each point under consideration. The judges will assess any evidence given the total amount of evidence administered in the trial. Accounting for guilt is done only if the Judicial Chamber is convinced that guilt has been proved beyond reasonable suspicion. ”, said by Kosovo Specialised Chambers.

Former KLA leaders are on the move since 2020.

And questioned about the issue, since they were recently released from the detention measure to other indictees, in the case that Hashim Thaci is involved in criminal acts against justice administration, the Special Court said it relates to each accused's individual circumstances.

Any decision regarding detention is made based on the individual circumstances of each detained person. In all, about Mr. Thaci, the Only Judge, found that there is still a real danger that, if released, Mr. Thaci could prevent the progress of the judicial process and that there is also the danger that Mr. Thaci commit other criminal acts. Regarding the war crimes trial, the Judicial Chamber found that there is a danger that Mr. Thaci prevents the judicial process and commits other criminal acts, including witnesses who have testified in the court case and/or to witnesses who may be called to testify in the parallel judicial process. ”

As the 90-day issue of decision making has already begun, the Humanitarian Law Fund says this deadline could be extended due to randomness.

“It is likely to increase deadlines because there have been more than 130 witnesses who have been heard and a witness has been heard in several hearings and all these evidence, statements of material evidence that are thousands of pages should be carefully read by the juro board that helps the juro and then describes the verdict.”, said Amer Aliaj of the Fund for Human Rights

Hashim Thaci, Kadri Veselini, Jakup Krasniqi and Rexhep Selimi are accused of war crimes and crimes against humanity in a process that has started in The Hague in April 2023. / Tv Dukagini/
