Opta Supercomputer predicts 2026 World Cup winner Argentina is not the main favourite

The four best nationals in the FIFA ranking will face a 2026 World semifinal at a stage where spectacular duels are expected.
The 2026 World Cup has entered the crucial phase, as four semifinal teams have already been identified after some dramatic encounters in the quarterfinals.
The first semifinal will bring a giant confrontation between France and Spain, where one of these two European nationals will secure a place in the grand final.
On the other hand, the defending champion Argentina will face a resurrected England in a duel that is expected to be just as exciting and unpredictable.
Before these matches, Opta's artificial intelligence supercomputer has published his forecast for the favourite team to triumph at the 2026 World Cup.
According to his analysis, France is the main favourite to win the third world trophy in history, with 34.05 percent chance of being declared champion.
Spain, which has 23.45 percent chance of raising the trophy, ranks behind the French, while England is estimated at 21.94 percent in chances of triumph.
The defending champion, Argentina, seems to have the lowest faith of four semifinals.
The Opta supercomputer gives “Albiceleste” only 20.55 percent chance of winning the second World in a row.
However, with just two matches away from the finals, any prediction can be overturned in a tournament where small details often place the fate of the biggest trophy in football.
