In a joint statement with leaders of France, Germany, Italy, Holland and Japan, the United Kingdom said it would work to stabilise energy markets.

We condemn the recent attacks by Iran on unarmed commercial ships in the Persian Gulf, attacks on civilian infrastructure, including oil and gas installations, and de facto closure of the Hormuz Strait by Iranian forces.
We express deep concern about the escalation of conflict.
We call on Iran to immediately terminate threats, mine deployment, intimidation and rocket attacks, as well as other efforts to block the tide for commercial ships, as well as implement UN Security Council Resolution 2817.
Freedom of navigation is a fundamental principle of international law, including the United Nations Convention on Sea Law.
The effects of Iran's actions will be felt by people in all parts of the world, especially by the most vulnerable.
In line with UN Resolution 2817, we stress that such interference in international sea transport and the disruption of global power supply chains pose a threat to international peace and security. In this direction, we call for an immediate, sweeping mortorium for attacks on civilian infrastructure, including oil and gas installations.
We express our willingness to contribute to the effort needed to secure passage through the Strait.
We welcome the commitment of nations that are engaged in the preparation plan.
We also welcome the International Energy Agency's decision to authorize a coordinated launch of strategic oil reserves.
We will take further steps to stabilise energy markets, including co-operation with several production countries to increase production.
We will also work to provide support to the most affected countries. Sea security and freedom of navigation benefit all countries.
We call on all states to respect international law and support the fundamental principles of international prosperity and security. /Telegrafi/
