300 thousand tourists within five months in Kosovo, many of them misled by neighbouring countries

Within the first five months of the year, Kosovo has received a total of 306 thousand and 447 foreign visitors, of which the most are from Albania, Germany, Switzerland and Turkey.
In contrast, mostly frequent cities are Prizren, Pristina, Peja and Gjakova.
According to written responses by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Prizren tops the list of most wanted foreign countries, Pristina remains the main entry point for international tourists, Peja continues to be one of the main centres of mountain tourism and adventure, to end up in Ghakova known for the Great Charshi.
“Destinations and most visited cities by foreign tourists in Kosovo are: Prizren é most popular tourist destination, visited for the historic centre, forts, mosques, churches, the DokuFest festival and cultural heritage, etc. Pristina HINA The capital is the main entry point for international tourists. Atractions Include Monument NEW BORN, National Library of Kosovo, St. Mother Teresa Cathedral, etc. Payback One of the main centers of mountain tourism and adventure. Visitors are attracted by Rugova's Grica, the White Drini Falls and the Peja Patriarchate, etc. Gjakova known for the Great Charshia, traditional architecture and cultural heritage, etc.”, says the ministry's answers.
This ministry has suggested that Pristina and Pec regions register the largest number of foreign visitors.
“According to data from the Kosovo Statistics Agency, the Pristina and Pec regions record the largest number of visitors and tourist events, while Prizren remains the best-known destination for cultural tourism”, Kosovo Press news agency reportedly is responding.
Tourist guide Muhamet Hasani said tourists like almost everything in Kosovo even though he adds that they initially have some kind of prejudice due to mismanagement.
Whatever pleases tourists or guests in Kosovo is almost everything. So starting from the lifestyle, from the chaos, from the food, even from the noise of the cities of Kosovo, everything looks beautiful. One of the reasons is that a large part, that is, of people who come to Kosovo, have some preconception, or they have some kind of misinterpretation - that is, they themselves do not know what to expect, or what they face in Kosovo. However, in 100 per cent of the cases, all guests, who are normally forwarded by local guidas, have to return with the best impressions”, Hasani has said.
According to him, tourists in a short time see another reality and realise they have been informed about Kosovo by neighbouring countries that have visited them before.
One of the first questions asked is security, then there is the question of Kosovo reports with other neighbouring countries. In this case, though, let them not tell you seconds that I may overexploit it seems to have nothing to do with what they heard or what has been recommended to them. Because unfortunately sometimes, when guests come to Kosovo, if they have already visited some of the neighbouring countries, usually in those neighbouring countries have a security malnoform in Kosovo. It's also very simple for me to do some kind of deuting, because in the past 2000, that is, in the past years by international credit organisations, Kosovo is ranked as one of the safest countries to visit”, the tourist guide added.
He stressed that nearly all nationalities come to visit Kosovo, considering as more specific the fact that tourists from Greece and Romania are growing, which until recently were less numerous.
While Kosovo Tourism Union Chairman Bucky Hoti has declared the growth of tourists in Kosovo to be very positive.
As he said, a tourist in Kosovo in 24 hours spends about 150 euros, and according to him, the tourism industry is what affects the country's economy.
This is positive news, where we're seeing that even in 2025 we've completed increased numbers of tourists, but also all the 2026 months are marking growth. If we calculate it in budgetary value, then an average visitor in 24 hours in Kosovo spends about 150 euros. If we calculate the number of visitors to come, then the tourism industry can say it's an industry that affects the country's economy and reflects extremely much on the budget of the Republic of Kosovo. If we compare the data of the Kosovo Statistics Agency for 2025, we have about 248m euros in revenue from foreign tourists who have visited Kosovo”, Hoti said.
It is consistently suggested that Kosovo has potential for tourism, until it calls on the Government for more investments.
According to the ministry, tourists from Albania come because of geographic proximity, family and cultural ties, until from Germany a large part are diaspora and business visitors.
Even from Switzerland are mostly Kosovo diaspora and families-related visitors. Meanwhile, visitors from Turkey come for cultural tourism, business and historical ties. / KSP
