When about 18.25 p.m. on the FR bus Kerzers was engulfed by flames on Tuesday evening, residents and passersby were struck with horror. Six people lost their lives in the devastating fire, at least five others were launched. Astret B.* (40), whose workshop is located not far from the fire site, describes the Swiss newspaper Blitch with dramatic minutes in which everything developed.
As chance seemed to be, he was a very police officer because he had been robbed. Then one of the police suddenly said, Please stay calm he was listening to radio communication. A little later he said: We have to leave right now, there's an emergency, it shows.
What I saw was then shocking”
Shortly thereafter, the garageman sees a huge cloud of black smoke rising. The police got in the car and in 30 seconds were there. I went right after them and what I saw was then shocking”.
The bus was on fire in the middle of the village center. The heat also broke out the tires and flew up to 200 meters from”, the witness recalls. Two police officers a man and a woman had been on the scene and had tried to coordinate the rescue operation.
Firefighters, whose base is directly in front of the garage, needed a few minutes until they could intervene. Everything happened so fast and then in a moment everything was involved in flames”, says the garage guy.
My wife usually travels on this bus”
How some people escaped this tragedy is told by the story of Justyna S.* (39) from Kerzers. Normally she goes to work every day with this exact postal bus line, relates her husband. We were really lucky. My wife usually goes with this bus to work. Today I was lucky to take it personally”
If he had just left a little bit later, everything would have seemed different, he is convinced: “if I had been late or couldn't have taken him, she would have traveled with this line and I would never forgive myself” His wife is especially shocked because she knows drivers on that line and travels with them every day.
