The number of victims has not been reported before. Ahead of the Reuters cipher publication, the Pentagon had discovered only eight people of the heavily injured American staff.
In a statement after Reuters released its report, the Pentagon estimated the figure was approximately 140 injured and said the overwhelming majority of them were minors.
“Since the beginning of Operation Epic Fury, approximately 140 members of the US service have been injured during 10 days of continued attacks”, said Pentagon chief spokesman Sean Parnell.
He said 108 of the wounded soldiers had already returned to duty, broadcast the signal.
Parnell said the eight heavily injured soldiers were taking the highest level of medical care.
Rain has launched revenge attacks against US military bases since the beginning of the conflict on February 28th. It has also hit diplomatic missions in Arab Gulf states, as well as hotels and airports, and has damaged the oil infrastructure.
The Pentagon says the number of Iranian attacks has dropped significantly since the beginning of the war, as the US Army bombards Iran's weapons inventory and targets Iran's most limited number of missile launchers.
Asked whether Iran was a stronger opponent than expected when the US Army drafted its war plans, General Dan Caine, chairman of the Joint Army Staff, told reporters earlier Tuesday that the war was not more difficult than expected.
I think they're fighting and I respect this, but I don't think they're any more scary than we thought“, Caine said at a press conference at the Pentagon. /Periscope
