After the recent floods involving several areas of Kosovo, affected municipalities are working intensively to assess the damage caused, both in businesses and in family economies.

The mayors of several municipalities have formed field data collection commissions and final reports are being prepared, which will then hand over the Government of Kosovo.

The aim of these estimates is to identify concrete damage and prepare a detailed mirror, which will then be handed over to the Government of Kosovo for review and compensation.

Malisheva Mayor Ekrem Kastrati has indicated that Wednesday (April) the deadline for handing in complaints about the damages caused by the floods to family economies and businesses in this municipality ends.

He said, meanwhile, that the commission for assessment of damages is already on the ground and is considering the requirements for compensation of damages presented by citizens and affected businesses.

The subx0> Commission for assessment of damages is only on the ground, considering the requirements for compensation of the damage. A final report will be prepared at the end of this period, which will be approved at the Municipal Assembly at the upcoming meetings and then sent to the Government of Kosovo for compensation of damages”, Kastrati declared.

According to him, the Malisheva municipality already has good co-operation with the Government of Kosovo, stressing that the report that will be approved at the Municipal Assembly will be carefully addressed by central institutions for ensuring damage compensation from the floods.

Already we have a co-operation with the Government that the report approved in the municipal assembly will have increased care in the Government of Kosovo, he told FrontOnline.

The chairman of the Drenas municipality, Ramiz Ladrovci, has indicated that recent floods have caused significant damage to the municipality's private and public properties. According to him, houses, agricultural cultures, private companies, as well as public infrastructure, including roads, several bridges and other objects have been affected.

“For all areas of damage, commissions have been formed, which are located on the ground and are making the census. The investigation process has not yet been completed, while documented evidence will be handed over to the Government Commission for assessment and compensation of damage”, Ladrovci has declared.

He added that the municipality has also received the Government Commission's visit for the assessment of damages, while jobs are shared for common purpose: the investigation and compensation of the damage, which will be done through the Kosovo Government's emergency fund.

We have expectations that all citizens and companies damaged by floods will be compensated. When that happens, we don't know, because it's not in our hands, but as soon as possible, it will be better”, the chairman of Drenas stressed.

The mayor of the Rahovec municipality, Smajl Latifi, has indicated that municipal institutions are in the process of measuring damage caused by recent floods.

He said that it is currently being worked on the ground and that the exact estimate of damages will take place in co-operation with the Government Commission for Harms.

We're in the process of assessing, after five, six days we can talk numbers. We've got the Government Commission for Harm. Let's see”, Latifi expressed

The chairman of the Vushtrri municipality, Ferit Idrizi, has indicated that the commission has been formed to assess the damages caused by the recent floods in this municipality.

He said the commission has already started working on the ground for collecting data, while after the report's completion, it will be processed for review in Government.

“E I formed the commission to assess damage, which is working on collecting ground data. After we complete the report, we proceed to Government, since we have no means to compensate for the damages”, Idrizi declared.

The head of the Kline municipality, Zenun Elesaj, has indicated that municipal institutions are in the process of measuring damage caused by the recent floods in this municipality.

He said the municipality is in constant contact with the Government Commission for assessment of damages, while at the same time the municipal commission is working on the ground to identify the consequences.

We are in contact with the Government Commission for the assessment of damages, and our municipal commission is making the damage assessment. Depending on the demands, I believe by the end of the week we will know the outcome. So far we don't know anything”, Elezaj declared FrontOnline.

The mayor of the Suhareka municipality, Bali Muarremaj, has indicated that a five-member municipal commission has been formed to assess the damages caused by the recent floods in this municipality.

He said that the commission, in co-operation with the Government Commission, is working on the ground for obtaining damage caused in households, agriculture and infrastructure.

“We have formed the commission of five members and, in co-operation with the government commission, are on the ground and are making assessments of the damage caused in households, agriculture and infrastructure. We have made a public appeal that those affected by the floods file complaints at the office number 11”, Muharremaj stated.

According to him, precise damage assessments are expected to be completed within 10 days, while the final report will be handed over to the Government of Kosovo for further steps in terms of compensation for damages.
