Germany's Chancellor Friedrich Merz warned that we are entering a world of great powers, which is a serious threat.

Merz begins by telling delegates that calm and peace up here in the magic mountain of Davos is in sharp contrast to a world whose old order is being rendered at a tremendous pace”.

Merz says Russia's aggressive fight against Ukraine has been the most drastic example, but the change goes much deeper, according to him, adding that China has managed to get into the ranks of great powers and that the global dominant “ ” of the United States is being challenged, writes The Guardian.

We have entered a time of great powers policy. The international order of the past three decades has always been imperfect. Today, its foundations are shaken.

Merz says this is not a “place of comfort”.

And he warns that the world where power alone matters is a dangerous place first for small states, then for the middle powers and ultimately for the big ones.
