Today it is 28 years from the second Serbian forces attack on the Yashari family in Prekaz.
On January 22, 1998, early in the morning hours from the Hunting Moon factory (Scenderaj), about 500m from the houses of the Jashar neighbourhood, Serbian police had moved forces heading towards the Yashars Tower to attack it with weapons of various kinds.
This action by Serbia's police towards Shaban Jashar's family came full of six years after the December 30th action of 1991.
Serbia's third attack on the Jashar family took place just a month and a half later, on March 5th 6th and 7th 1998, thousands of Serbia's police and soldiers carried out the third and most fatal action in Prekaz, killing 20 members of Shaban Jashar's family, including the legendary KLA commander, Adem Jashar, out of 59 days that they were killed in Prekaz.
The KLA War Veterans' Organisation reports that today it holds itsmazhe at 10:00 in Prekaz, near the Memorial complex.
“In honour of January 22, 1998, when Serbian forces attacked the Jashari family in Prekaz for the second time, this event that marked a historic decision of resistance, in the face of violence and danger, the family chose not to leave its home and land, showing the world that Albanians never abandon their land, O VL KLA invites the families of the martyrs, fellow fighters and citizens to participate in the homazhe at 10: 00 p.m. in Prekaz, near the Memorial facility”, the announcement said.
