The first victim was seen by a passerby near a bridge in Choisy-le-Roi, a southeast suburb of the capital, on 13 August. Later that day, police who searched the area discovered three other bodies dipped nearby, reports BBC.
Prosecutors say one of the victims was choked and another had violent injuries.
Suspect is being held in Paris. The police haven't given any details about him or how many murders he's been questioned.
The first body had been in the water for only a short time and was identified as a 40-year-old local man, prosecutors said.
The other three were found in a highly advanced decomposition state “, they added.
Prosecutors stressed that there was no evidence so far for a link between the victims. They may have sunk in separate places upstream and taken from the current to the feet of the Choisy Bridge.
